Sports and games

At our private school in Trichy, students live the spirit of “sport, arts and one community,” stepping into programmes where medals and trophies are only the starting point.

From curriculum PE to the after-school sports and games programme, they train, compete and perform across swimming, football, basketball, badminton, athletics, table tennis and chess – building fitness, confidence and the courage to take the lead.

Sports and games programme

Our programme gives committed student-athletes the chance to train at a more advanced and competitive level. Held after school from Monday to Friday, 4pm – 5.30pm, it offers specialised coaching that builds strength, skill and game understanding.

Swimming

At our international syllabus school in Trichy, students first build water confidence and fitness through fun, guided activities and games in the pool. As they grow, they learn stroke basics, breathing, floating and kicking, with a strong emphasis on water safety.

Older swimmers refine their technique across all strokes, work on speed and endurance and follow structured training sets that prepare them for interschool competitions and relay events, building resilience, discipline and confidence in the water.

Our students also compete in events such as the Vignesh Vidyalaya Sports Fest Swimming Competition.

Swimming

Football

In football, students start with ball control, passing, dribbling and shooting through fun drills and small-sided games that build confidence and teamwork. As they progress, coaching focuses on positional play, tactical understanding and game strategies, supported by fitness conditioning and regular match practice on the school ground.

Players learn to read the game, make quick decisions and work as a unit, developing the mindset and skills needed to perform in inter-house and interschool tournaments.

Football

Basketball

Basketball training begins with basic skills such as dribbling, passing, footwork and shooting, introduced through age-appropriate drills and games. As students advance, sessions focus on offensive and defensive strategies, teamwork, spacing and fast-break play, supported by strength, agility and coordination work.

Regular scrimmages help players apply what they learn under pressure, preparing them for inter-house events and higher-level tournaments like the YMCA State Level Basketball Trophy.

Basketball

Badminton

In badminton, students build core racket skills, grip, basic strokes and correct footwork, learning to move confidently around the court. Training then progresses to smashes, drops, clears, net shots and serves, alongside tactical concepts such as shot selection, placement and rally construction.

Through regular drills, singles and doubles match play and targeted fitness work, players develop speed, agility, precision and mental focus, gaining the confidence to compete in inter-house and interschool fixtures.

Badminton

Athletics

Athletics begins with all-round physical development through running, jumping and throwing activities that build coordination, flexibility and core strength. Students then move into event-specific training on the 200-metre track and field areas, focusing on sprint technique, middle-distance pacing, relays and basic field events.

Structured workouts, warm-ups and cool-downs teach good training habits, helping athletes set goals, monitor progress and compete with confidence in track meets and school sports events.

Athletics

Table Tennis

Learners start with bat grip, stance and simple rallies that build hand–eye coordination and control. Coaching then introduces forehand and backhand drives, pushes and basic serves, followed by spin, placement and combination play.

Through regular drills and friendly matches, players learn to anticipate their opponent’s shots, adjust quickly and maintain focus in fast-paced rallies, developing the confidence to perform well in both practice and competitive fixtures.

Table Tennis

Chess

Chess players begin by learning piece movement, basic rules and simple checkmate patterns, building patience, concentration and logical thinking. As they progress, they explore opening principles, tactical motifs and endgame strategies, using practice games and puzzles to sharpen decision-making.

Regular school tournaments and ISP events give students the chance to test their skills on a larger stage, with many going on to represent TIPS Trichy in the ISP Chess Masters and All-Star tournaments.

As one of the best international schools in Trichy, many also explore photography, videography and digital media, capturing games and competitions. This integrated approach lets learners develop both physical ability and artistic expression, deepening confidence, collaboration and joy in learning.
